Rule of 3rds

Updated: Jul 31, 2023

1/3rd of the time your training can really suck

1/3rd of the time you can feel great.

1/3rd of the time it'll feel okay.

And that's probably the sweet spot for growth in any aspect.

If any of those are disproportionately out of kilter something probably isn't aligning.

If its super easy all the time and there is no discomfort then there's probably no changes, no adaptations.

If its just okay all the time, you've plateaued, not going backwards but probably not making any ground either.

If it feels easy, if there is no pain, and you feel great all the time, likely hood is you need to hunt out the stress again, push a bit harder and lean into some discomfort.

Rule of thirds is why habit and discipline evicerate motivation.

Volume of work is king and Queen.

So If you only show up to do work on the "I feel great" days you're probably gonna be sat on your proverbial 2 thirds of the time and miss out on a whole lot of progress.

It's great when it all feels easy but its gonna get ugly some time, and when it does what do you do?

You can question all the why's and what to do's.

but sometimes you just got to crank up the volume and do the work.

Crack on
