Why do I train the way I do.
My training enables me to do all the stuff I want to do.
I'm like a kid in a sweet shop.
I'm uber focused, but not on becoming great at one particular thing (other than coaching).
I don't think im very well put together to be particularly great at one thing any way.
For me I'd rather be able to turn my hand to multiple different things and hold my own.
I don't look much like a runner, but I can run marathons and mountains.
Im no powerlifter but I'm happy to move 2.5 x's bw.
And When hyrox roles around again I'll be ready.
My goal with training is to stay ready, to be capable and to hold my own wherever I go.
I don't train like a body builder
, a powerlifter, a crossfitter, a runner or a strongman
I train like an athlete, my sport and activities are whatever vibes at the time.
I like to train the lower body for performance, to move better, to run up and down mountains not for big thighs.
I do however like to train the upper body more like a body builder to be more muscular, I don't want skinny arms and I like to chase a bigger bench press (who doesnt).
And all the while I simply love running.
Some may say these methods contradict the growth of the other, and if reaching the absolute peak of each element was the aim that would likely be true.
But your training is your training, no-one can tell you what the goal should be.
If you want to powerlift to the best of your ability then focus on that alone.
If you want to be the best runner you can, dedicate most of your time to that.
I however want to experience different events, test myself in multiple different ways and disciplines, I like the challenge of trying to train for juxtaposed modalities of fitness and I also like chasing an arm pump.
I'm not gonna win any titles but I'm OK with being ok at exercising 😁🤟
It got me a lot further than not doing it.
What are you training for?
